Closing Day is here - or as I like to call it, "Make amends for yesterday's shit-show Day". The good news is, I can't do any worse. I am assuming a wet track for these selections.
R1 - #10 Luna's Song (9-2) Normally I wouldn't go near the 10-hole in a 5.5f race here, but I expect she'll benefit from a couple of scratches. Bullet from the gate buried in those works.
R2 - #3 Uncle Marty (6-1) Obviously wasn't ready for his debut. Has a couple of smart works since, and Rice is profitable with second-time starters.
R3 - #3 Dynadrive (6-1) Wish I could just pass on this one, but contests require a pick in every race. This one looks to have the best previous dirt form - could be a 3-horse race?
R4 - #3 Crowding Out (1-1) Obvious. I think #8 Mostly Harmless will run well at better odds, though.
R5 - #2 New York Banker (6-1) She hasn't had a very good meet with a pair of lousy efforts, but she loves the rain and fits at this level. I expect a big effort.
R6 - #3 I'm Fine (10-1) Mare is 1 for 20 lifetime, but has solid off-track pedigree and, here's a little secret - check Franco's stats over the last 5 years on an off track at Saratoga. With any luck, he'll time his closing run perfectly.
R7 - #5 Lt Mitchell (15-1) I just want Luzzi to win today. Seriously, though, Levine and Luzzi have teamed up for big long shot wins more times than I can remember.
R8 - #3 Night Ops (6-1) First time racing with a for sale sign and gets the rain, which he loves.
R9 - #3 Grecian Pharoah (30-1) Rudy is 2 for 85 at the meet - he must be thrilled it's finally over. This one is sneaky, though. He's got some decent dirt form and is 6-1-1-2 on an off track. Why not?
R10 - #3 Jane Grey (9-2) Should absolutely LOVE the stretch out to a mile. A little worried about #5 Shalimar Gardens running away with it, but I'll hope for a contested pace and pray the photo goes my way.
R11 - #2 Forte (3-1) I've made some money over this meet backing Violence 2 year-olds. Here I'm handed Violence/Pletcher/Irad - and he won't even be the chalk! The extra furlong is a gift as well.
R12 - #9 Tellaperfecttale (10-1) She loves the off-track. Weight allowance doesn't hurt, either.
